Artist's Comments

My first submission. It's a couple of years old, but I wanted to get some feedback on it.

A friend of mine wanted me to paint something for her as a wedding gift. After a couple of failed attempts at portraits, lace, and cakes and the like, I started thinking about how marriage seems to have lost a bit of its sense of permanence in today's society.
That got me to wondering what would happen if a couple were forced to stay together through extremely tough circumstances. (Like, maybe they were legless, baby-making cyborgs in some bleak future experimental laboratory.)
Could love blossom even in such dire conditions?
(And after reading that paragraph, I promise I will never try to explain one of my paintings again.)
Anyway, after I finished the painting, I decided I would just give them some candlesticks instead.
